ABOUT OUR LEAD PASTOR
A Message from Pastor Jonathan & Janet Stumbo

Jonathan and Janet Stumbo each fell in love with Jesus at a young age, years before they met one another. That love for Him has remained at the center of their lives, family, and their three decades of ministry together. They are honored to serve as Interim Lead Pastors at Water’s Edge Community Church—a meaningful homecoming for Jonathan, who grew up right here in Ogden.
Jonathan is an ordained minister and earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Iowa State University. Janet earned her bachelor’s degree in Mass Media Communication from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
They spent 12 years on the pastoral staff of Jubilee Fellowship Church in the Denver, Colorado area, serving as Worship and Associate Pastors, with their responsibilities growing to include oversight of numerous ministries and department leaders. They were also the first pastors sent with a leadership team to launch Jubilee’s first satellite campus, which became a model for future campuses. During those years, they were trained and mentored in church leadership, growth, and shepherding a congregation as Jubilee grew from approximately 400 to more than 4,000 people across multiple campuses.
Their ministry eventually took them around the world. As missionaries, Jonathan and Janet have traveled to more than 20 countries and lived overseas for more than eight years, primarily in the Philippines. Most recently, they served as Regional Directors in the South Pacific with Wycliffe Associates, overseeing hundreds of Bible translation projects, equipping indigenous churches and leaders to translate Scripture into their own languages, and celebrating the completion of 20 New Testaments in minority languages.
Jonathan and Janet have three young adult children—two daughters and a son—and a daughter-in-law. Their entire family has lived in the Philippines, and they now all live in the United States.
Through every season of life, Jonathan and Janet’s desire has been to follow and obey God’s leading, keep their marriage and family strong, genuinely love and enjoy the people God has given them to serve, and live with hearts full of gratitude for His incredible love and grace.
